Bose 321 speakers.

I found myself in possession of a pair of Bose 321 speakers. Online advice varies from, "There is no way to reuse these speakers" to "You may be violating international law to even try to use them on anything other than a Bose system". Here are the simple facts: Inside that box are two four ohm speakers, apparently identical as I could not tell any difference between the two. The proprietary plug on the back is nothing more than four wires, two to each speaker, one pair is red +, black -, the other pair is green +, blue -. In my case I was using an 8 ohm stereo receiver so I wired the two four ohm speakers in series, one + hooked to the other speaker -. I just reused the factory plug and they work and sound great. On a related note, the sub woofer with this system is apparently powered by the receiver unit which in my case was DOA. I removed the factory electronics from the case, purchased a decent 100 watt sub woofer amplifier online and with a little modification installed it in the back of the cabinet. The speaker itself is sealed inside separate from the electronics area in the back. This too, works and sounds great.  So, for a little over $100, and a little tinkering I have a recycled Bose speaker system that is more adequate for my remote get away place. I hope I don't go to stereo prison for this.
